Where I've Been

Hey, there. It's been a while, huh?

I'd love to say that I've been super productive behind the scenes, hard at work on several works in progress while juggling the whole stay-at-home-parent thing—but that sadly hasn't been the case, I fear.

I normally at the very least announce a hiatus from TikTok, but I didn't have it in me this time, folks. The last few months have been pretty hard over here, and the ol' mental health hasn't been mental health-ing as of late. Had to get off some meds that were absolutely tanking—well, everything. Productivity in the negative on pretty much everything. Sorry for not giving a heads up, but y'all know I'm bad at this.

No, I haven't been working my would-be author ass off in the time I've been away. But I'm back(ish). Been writing again and getting back on the podcast (Untitled Storyteller Podcast on Spotify shoutout). Tried enough meds to know that I can either be a sometimes nervous, anxious, mentally debilitated wreck and be productive, OR be so chilled out on something that the world could be burning down around me and I'd just be sitting in a rocking chair doom-scrolling.

If anyone noticed I released a book I'd been working on for almost 8 years and then sort of just... didn't market the damn thing, then you might see what I'm talking about.

If there's a trade-off, I'd prefer to be able to actually get shit done, no matter how I feel. Mental health be absolutely damned.

So, what's been going on?

I'm back on writing the Spireverse. This is going to be a trilogy with the titles of the next 2 books being The Primordial Ruin and The Primordial Throne. The characters were just too good for a one-off solo novel but, hey, I tried. For those who read Primordial Spire, you know where it ended up, and the sequel picks up mere weeks after the end with what's remaining of the party going their separate ways on the continent of Aibon to help secure dig up ancient knowledge. I'm looking forward to the dynamics of the pairings, not going to lie, and we'll get to see a lot more of the world than the flashbacks we got in Spire. More of the minotaurs, elves, orcs, and—with a new addition—we get to see the gnomes of the central kingdoms, which I'm incredibly excited to flesh out.

(Also—I still have about 30ish copies of The Primordial Spire left over from the last con sitting behind my desk, as well. Not going to raise the price on here, if anyone still wants a signed copy that'll ship quicker, just saying).

I'm also working (tentatively) on another project in a new universe with a working title of The Witch Run. I'm still cooking on the world and characters but I plan on working on it in tandem with Primordial Ruin, so we'll see how that goes. Spire is going to be getting more attention, though.

I'm planning on getting back on TikTok soon—since I know you lovely people must have missed my chonky, out-of-shape face—and I'll be once again rattling on about random thoughts, I'm sure.

I'm still venturing into podcast stuff (however mild since I don't know what the fuck I'm actually doing) but I'd always appreciate the listens and downloads on Untitled Storyteller Podcast!

Anyway. Thanks for being here, and getting this far. I'll probably do a summed up version of this on TikTok but for anyone reading this, I appreciate the support. I fucking love you.

Until next time,

JGD
